Taste of Makarska is city’s first food & wine tour which combines three food and & wine establishments where guests can experience local culture and gastronomy. Taste Makarska is all about local food talk and ingredients. We walk downtown Makarska and explore taverns and wine bars. We first stop by a rustic tavern in the old town where we would have a local aperitif such as grappa, cherry or walnut liquor followed with the Adriatic plate combined of anchovies, shrimps, smoked tuna, olives, seasonal salads, homemade bread and a glass of white wine.

We take our time slowly while discussing the local culture, ingredients and culinary techniques. Our tour continues at the wine bar in the beautiful setting of Kačić square and tasting two local sparkling wines made in classic / traditional Champagne method. You would be introduced to basic sparkling wine tasting techniques followed by a brief Champagne master class. As for our last stop, we visit a lovely bistro and taste traditional almond cake Makarana, paired with Dalmatian sweet wine Prošek made entirely of dried grapes.
